Is Hostinger legit and safe? An honest look in 2026
Who's behind Hostinger, how safe it is to pay, how good the uptime and security are, and the real downsides you should know before you buy.
Short answer: yes
Hostinger is a real, long-running hosting company with millions of customers. It was founded in 2004 in Kaunas, Lithuania, runs data centers on several continents, and offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on hosting.
That doesn't mean it's perfect. Below is what it does well, and the downsides to plan for.
Is it safe to pay Hostinger?
Payment happens on Hostinger's own secure checkout, over HTTPS, with the usual card processors and PayPal or local methods depending on your country. We never see your payment details: our link only adds the coupon to your cart.
Security for your website
- Free SSL on every site.
- Malware scanning and a web application firewall on shared plans.
- Automatic backups (weekly on entry plans, daily on Business and up).
- Two-factor authentication for your hPanel login. Turn it on.
The real downsides
- Renewals cost more than the intro price. Plan for it, and take a long first term.
- No phone support; it's 24/7 chat and tickets.
- Entry plans have weekly, not daily, backups.
- The checkout offers add-ons. Most aren't needed on day one.
Who Hostinger is a good fit for
Bloggers, small businesses, students, freelancers and developers who want good speed for a low price and are comfortable with chat support. Large, mission-critical sites with a team may prefer a managed premium host.
